Judge Elizabeth Emmanuel was appointed to the Fulton County Magistrate Court Bench in April 2020. Hailing from Haddock, Georgia, Judge Emmanuel graduated from the University of Georgia magna cum laude and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law with honors.
Judge Emmanuel's legal career began with serving in the chambers of the Honorable Herbert E. Phipps of the Georgia Court of Appeals as a legal intern. With over ten years of legal experience, Judge Emmanuel was a corporate litigator with the international law firm King & Spalding LLP representing Fortune 100 companies in multi-state, federal civil litigation. Judge Emmanuel also practiced as a Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office where she prosecuted complex felony and misdemeanor cases involving both adult and juvenile offenders. Additionally, Judge Emmanuel holds bar admissions from the Georgia Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
Judge Emmanuel also has been featured as a guest attorney on CourtTV providing national legal commentary and analysis.
Judge Emmanuel is a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar. Additionally, Judge Emmanuel is member of Victory Church in Norcross, Georgia and serves in the Greeters' and Children's ministries.
In her spare time, Judge Emmanuel enjoys all things fitness including running the Beltline alongside her loving husband.
