Judge Melynee Leftridge began her career as an attorney in 1991 following graduation from Georgetown University Law Center and Spelman College (C ’88).  She served as both a Staff Attorney on the Fulton County Superior Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals.

During her career, Judge Leftridge practiced criminal law as a prosecutor with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and worked as a civil trial lawyer. As a trial lawyer, she tried numerous jury trials, as sole counsel, over the course of her career and has represented plaintiffs and defendants, corporations and individuals in the State and Superior Courts of Georgia. Her substantial trial experience has served her well in connection with presiding over criminal and civil jury trials as a judge.

In 2007, Judge Leftridge became a part-time judge serving the Citizens of Fulton County, while also working as a civil trial lawyer.  Shortly thereafter, she was elevated to a full-time position where she presides over civil cases and misdemeanor criminal cases in the State and Magistrate Courts.

Judge Leftridge has proudly served her local community for two terms on the Board of Directors at Southside Medical Center.  She has served as a mentor in the Perkerson Elementary School 3rd grade Reading Program and as a volunteer in the Just the Beginning Foundation's "Robes in Schools" program.  She also routinely serves as a presiding judge in Atlanta area high school mock trial competitions. Judge Leftridge is a Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Judge Leftridge holds leadership positions in a number of organizations related to the legal profession, including, the Atlanta Bar Association (Judicial Section) and the Gate City Bar Association (Judicial Section).
