Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton extended the Statewide Judicial Emergency through June 30, 2021.
The Magistrate Court has published its Guidance as to when and how Court operations will commence, following assessments and consultation with Public Health officials. This Guidance affects the following calendars: Landlord-Tenant (Dispossessory), Small Claims, Abandoned Motor Vehicles, Child Abandonment, Warrant Applications, Garnishment, Environment, Copy of Charges, Personal Property Foreclosures, Trover, Post-Judgement Hearings, and Misdemeanor Mental Health Court jail. Wedding Ceremonies handled through Magistrate Court are suspended until further notice.

Due to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases locally and nationally, the Board of Commissioners has updated its policy on mask requirements. Effective Thursday, August 5, masks are required for all employees and visitors in Fulton County facilities, regardless of vaccination status.

Superior Court Chief Judge Christopher Brasher has issued an Order Declaring Judicial Emergency in an efforts to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 in the justice system of Georgia and in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. The period of Judicial emergency shall take effect at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 and expires at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Fulton County is preparing to launch a COVID-19 rental and utility assistance program based on an $18 million federal funding award through the U.S. Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

Eligible Fulton County residents outside the City of Atlanta will be able to apply through an online application in early March. Eligible expenses include rent, rental arrears, and utilities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
