Judge Cheryl R. Treadwell was appointed to the Fulton County Magistrate Court in July 2021. After completing law school in 2005, she began her legal career as a litigation attorney focused on employment, business, and construction matters. In 2013, she joined the City of Atlanta’s Law Department. As a Senior Assistant City Attorney, she represented Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in contract, public safety, and security matters. In 2018, she returned to private practice as a partner with Kane Treadwell Law LLC.
In addition to her law practice, Cheryl is a certified civil mediator and provides content for legal publications on litigation topics. She has also been active in local and national bar associations where she has held leadership positions and served as a CLE presenter.
Judge Treadwell earned a B.S. in Public Policy from Georgia Tech. She earned her law degree from the University of Georgia, where she served as a Notes Editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.
Since she began practicing law, Judge Treadwell has continued to volunteer for various community service programs, including the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Truancy Intervention Project, GABWA, crisis line counseling, and non-partisan election initiatives. Judge Treadwell enjoys yoga, themed 5K races, and spending time with her immediate and extended family.
